Goal: Prepare your business to run Facebook Ads for the first time from scratch.


Prerequisites or requirements: You will need to have a personal Facebook account. To follow some of the sections on this recipe you will need to have Google Tag Manager on your site.


Why this is important: Facebook Ads allow you to promote yourself to the 2 billion active Facebook users worldwide. 


When this is done: Only once per website usually. 


Who does this: The person responsible for Paid media or Analytics, possibly with the help of the person responsible for Website Development. 





  • Step 1 - Create a Facebook Ads account


Create a Facebook Ads Account using Business Manager. Create a Business Manager account and Facebook Ad Account for your business, to start managing all your Facebook Assets and sharing them with your employees securely. 


Outcome: You have a Facebook Business Manager account that manages your Facebook Ads account and it’s already set up with your payment method.

  • Step 2 - Install the Facebook Pixel 


Installing the Facebook Pixel on Your Site. How to properly install the Facebook pixel on any site. With this pixel, you can create remarketing audiences and set up conversions for your campaigns. 


Outcome: The Facebook Pixel is properly installed and QA’d. 

  • Step 3 - Set up Facebook Conversion Tracking


Setting up FB Conversion Tracking. Perfectly track leads, page views, button clicks, signups, purchases or any other event, using Facebook’s pixel conversion tracking. 


Outcome: You are successfully tracking all your main conversions or at least the conversions that will matter to your upcoming Facebook Ads campaigns.
